Hey! Is this the copyright act that you were talking about? It was created in '76 and enacted in '98? I want to get the full text of this and read through it if possible.

Yep, except that it went into effect Jan 1, 1978 not 98.

BTW, that book's name is "The Legal Guide to Computer Software Protection" by Thorne D. Harris III, Attorney at Law. Published in 1985. It is certainly specific to computer software, but much of it applies to any medium of expression (since the copyright law doesn't really say much about mediums):whistling:

Enjoy your reading, it's nearly 300 pages and has been amended quite a few times since 1990 (I scanned through it and except for a bit of "fine tuning", it reads just about the same as I remember from when I read it in 1986) Also, you might want to look at Title 37, which defines a lot of terms. Section 201 applies mostly to copyright.
