I may get an answer I don't want to hear, and if that's the case, well then dopey me!
Many of you know that I have created websites for the city of Battle Creek, Michigan. I have also taken a lot of pictures for these websites. I'm not a professional photographer or even close to one, but since I was donating the websites, it wasn't a big deal.
Back in Janurary of this year (2007) the city informed me that they were going to go with another company that was "going to take them to a national level" (they were already at an international level, but that's beside the point) and really, it was fine with me as I was not able to take on paying clients while doing these festival websites each summer.
My question is, they are using some of my photographs on the website. I don't mind them using the photos, but I would like credit for taking the photos. I do have the photos with a time stamp on them so I know that they are the photos that I took. Would I be "out of line" by asking them to either give my company credit for taking the photos or take them off of the website?
Again, I never really considered myself a professional photographer, nor do I have any intentions of trying to become one. But this was work that I did for FREE! My personal feelings are, this is the least that they could do, either have the respect to take the photos down or have the respect of giving me the credit for taking them in the first place.
Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
